and even more Chloe!
It’s Chloe! & she’s gravid, again!
Chloe update…
…what a champ she is! Three days without eating or water, she excavated 2 burrows, the first one she started in her habitat while I was in town, so I decided to leave her be & see how it worked out. It eventually collapsed on her, so I moved her to the nesting site & she excavated a burrow of around 18 inches long, deposited her 53 eggs & then covered & packed it all in 13 hours! She is now feasting on crickets & lounging around under her basking lights. Marvelous creature, she is!
Chloe update, she still has not laid her eggs! She is getting extremely fat with them. She settled into a nice gravid color pattern (lots of aqua dots & dark orange bands). She spends her days basking & eating a few crickets. Waiting for her to show zero interest in eating & renewed interest in looking for a nesting site. I have a 35 gal. trash can ready with a new soil/sand mix for her when she does. I’m attributing her erratic behavior the last few days to changes in hormone levels.
Chloe says Hi! aint she a purdy little girl ?
update on the egg laying ordeal: still no luck! She spends more time hanging out in the bottom of her habitat. the eggs are noticeably dropping down in her abdomen. Coloration is getting more vivid & she’s keeping the darker colors longer when she climbs to bask. Appetite is real good & still nimble as all get out.
